Cargo handling at ports of Iran’s Bushehr Province growing

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 9. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at the ports of Iran’s Bushehr Province increased by 9 percent, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Director General of Bushehr Province’s Ports and Maritime Department Mohammad Shakibinasab said, Trend reports.

The official noted that 32.7 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded at the ports of Bushehr Province for six months.

Shakibinasab added that approximately 27.3 million tons of the mentioned volume accounted for crude oil and related products and 5.44 million tons accounted for non-oil products, showing an increase of 7.6 percent and 13.5 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year.

According to him, 16 million tons of goods were exported through the ports of Bushehr Province within 6 months, representing an 18.3 percent increase from the same period last year.

Also, 483,000 tons of goods were imported via the province’s ports over the specified period, which is 10 percent more than the same period last year, the director general said.

Bushehr Province has several major ports, such as Bushehr, Kharg, Genaveh, Dayyer, Asaluyeh, and others.
