A total of 3,500 security officials were injured during the January riots in Kazakhstan, the country's Prosecutor General Berik Asylov said, Trend reports.
"We saw footage of police officers and soldiers, who are 18-20 years old, being severely beaten and abused. About 3,500 were wounded among the security forces during those days," Prosecutor General noted.
"No force was used against the attackers. Police officers, servicemen of the National Guard and the Armed Forces tried to stop the violence and still did not use military weapons in that difficult situation,” he said.
