ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 21. A contract was signed between the Afghan Railway Authority and Kazakhstan's company Integra Construction to resume work on the construction of a railway line in the section from Rozanak station to Rabattarian station (43 kilometers), Trend reports.

As Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry said, the construction of the railway line in Kabul is scheduled for completion in May 2025.

"The section is an important part of the Khaf (Iran)-Herat (Afghanistan) railway, which spans 191 km and will connect these two countries, with the prospect of Afghanistan connecting to the port of Chabahar and through it to India," the Ministry said.

The implementation of the project and the subsequent construction of a "dry port" in Herat are also important for expanding trade relations between Afghanistan and the countries of Central Asia, Kazakhstan, and China, as well as using the transit potential of Afghanistan and Iran.

This project is being implemented within the framework of the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to expand economic and humanitarian cooperation with Afghanistan and support domestic business abroad, with the assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Afghanistan.

After the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan in August 2021, the implementation of projects, including the construction of the Trans-Afghan Railway, was slowed down due to a lack of funds.
