Iran expects possible increase of house rental rates

TEHRAN, Iran, Apr.5

Trend:

The allowed ceiling for rental rate of residential units in Iran would be announced during the current week, said Deputy Minister of Road and Urban Development Mahmoud Mahmoudzadeh, Trend reports via ILNA.

"There is a possibility that the rate of rental apartments would increase in the current Iranian year (started March 21,2021). The inflation rate affects the ceiling of rent rates. We are reviewing the suggested percentages and will make a decision based on the situation and consider the interests of owners and tenants," he said.

"Due to COVID-19 situation, all the rental contracts were extended for one year in the last Iranian year (started March 20,2020) with the exception of three conditions and the mandatory extension of rental contracts would continue in the current Iranian year (started March 21,2021)," he said.

"A contract is extended for another year if a tenant has not damaged the property, owner does not seek to sell the property and the tenant accepted the increase of rent," Mahmoudzadeh said.

"The following conditions are to be reviewed at the upcoming meeting of the National Headquarters to Control Coronavirus," he said.
