Heads of TV channels of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) have been en masse dismissed from their offices, the website of the Iranian television IRIB News said Dec.16.

The managers of the first, second, third, fourth and fifth channels, as well as Amoozesh, Mostanad, Pooya, Saba and Salamat TV channels have been changed within the framework of structural changes and reforms, said the website.

It is reported that new appointments have already been made.

Earlier, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appointed a new chairman of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, according to the Iranian media.

It was also reported that Mohammad Sarafraz on this position replaced Ezzatollah Zarghami, who has headed the structure for the last ten years.

Sarafraz started radical reforms in IRIB, Iranian media reported. Some media called these reforms "unprecedented transformations after the Islamic Revolution".

Sarafraz has worked as deputy chairman of the state television on channels broadcasting in foreign languages for the last 20 years, said the website.

Sarafraz said that the TV programs should be prepared on the basis of the interrelation principle. He went on to add that if it is done, the Iranian television can gain a special image among the world TV channels.

Sarafraz also wants to expand the activities of IRIB in social networks as well, according to the Iranian media. It is reported that one of the changes made by him was the reduction of the length of news bulletins.
