Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday that the blood of those killed fighting for the rights of the Palestinian people will not go to waste, dpa reported.

Abbas was referring to the protestors killed on the Lebanese and Syrian borders and in the Gaza Strip as they were marking Nakba day commemorating the expulsion of Palestinians from Israel in 1948.

"Their blood will not go to waste," said Abbas in a televised address. "Their blood was spilled for the freedom of our Palestinian people and for its rights."

Abbas said the participation of a large number of people in the protests was proof that "right is stronger than time, and the will of people is stronger than the power of the oppressive forces and the occupiers."
