Turkey intends to increase the production of locomotives, a source in the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.
This is one of the priorities of the Turkish State Railways (TCDD).
Last year, 150 domestic locomotives were produced in Turkey, as well as 1,000 freight railcars.
"By the end of 2019, Turkey intends to double the production of locomotives," the source noted.
By the end of 2035, 70 billion euros will be invested in the implementation of transport and infrastructure projects in Turkey.
The total funding for the implementation of transport and infrastructure projects in Turkey allocated to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure will amount to 62.275 billion liras in 2020-2021.
Some 31.183 billion liras will be allocated for the implementation of projects in 2020, which is 3.413 billion more compared to financing for 2019, and 31.092 billion liras will be allocated for the implementation of projects in 2021.
