Azerbaijan, Baku // Trend corr. E.Huseynli / The Vahdat Party of Azerbaijan will support the candidate of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Ilham Aliyev, the chairman of the party, Tair Karimli, said.
The main principle of the party is to support the candidacy from the ruling party, the chairman said.
The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held in October 2008. The Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will be the one candidate from the New Azerbaijan party.
The party will hold a meeting and officially disclose its position after announcing the beginning of the elections. The one election centre should be created to support the candidacy of Ilham Aliyev, Karimli said.
Vahdat presently supports the political course of the authorities.
