Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree "On amnesty of sentenced persons in honor of the 23rd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence", which is celebrated on October 27, the Turkmen government said Oct. 22.
"This decision was made in honor of the 23rd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence in accordance with the principles of mercy and humanity to further strengthen the unity and cohesion of the Turkmen society and every family," a statement says.
The pardoned are exempt from further serving of the main and additional punishment, the decree says.
Earlier, the prisoners were pardoned in July in honor of the holy Gadyr Gijesi (Night of Omnipotence) during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan - a month of fasting.
The local administration has been instructed concerning the employment of the pardoned, according to the tradition.
