Georgia, Tbilisi, May 27 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /

Russian border guards began demarcation works in several Georgian villages in the border area of Shida Kartli region, Georgian sources reported on Monday. In particular, so-called border with South Ossetia moved 300 meters deep in the village of Ditsi.

Border pillars are being installed now, and barbed wire is planned to be installed.

Local population is afraid that their land parcels and cemetery will be found on the other side of the 'border'.

Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia confirms the information about the border movement.

According to an employee of the analytical department of the Ministry of Kakha Kemoklidze, these are absolutely illegal activities, and Georgia will surely raise the issue at the next meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism on May 31, as well as the negotiations in Geneva format.

The Geneva talks were convened after the armed conflict in Georgia in August 2008 in accordance with the ceasefire agreement of August 12.

Large scale military actions were launched in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008. Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military.

Russia recognised the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. In response, Tbilisi broke diplomatic relations with Moscow and has called the two unrecognised republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.
