The expert noted that, as global transport links move from north to south, Azerbaijan will be a key player in this regard.

According to him, the agreement between Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran on the development of railways within the North-South corridor will also increase the potential of it becoming a major transport link.

Regarding the role of Karabakh in the overall transport system of the region, the expert noted that large investments guarantee long-term stability and security in the region due to a developed business, and stable economy.

"The country has already done a great deal of work to rebuild the liberated territories. Today Karabakh already has developed infrastructure in the form of roads and airports. Azerbaijan shows that with its leadership comes stability and prosperity," said Lakes.

The expert added that the Zangezur corridor project would be beneficial for the whole region. This corridor will become a long-term transport hub in the South Caucasus.

In turn, Allan Mustard, co-founder and co-head of the Trans-Caspian Resources energy startup, Former US Ambassador to Turkmenistan, noted that Azerbaijan can play a decisive role in attracting other countries located along the Middle Corridor, as well as along the East-West and North-South corridors, to increase the importance of these routes.
