BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 2. It is essential to listen to the voices of youth when preparing national climate plans, Presidency Youth Climate Champion for COP29 Leyla Hasanova said during an event on " National High-Level Event on Climate Change & Children" at ADA University as part of the Baku Climate Action Week, Trend reports.

She stated that climate change has come home to roost, as rising temperatures and dwindling water supplies are already making waves in Azerbaijan.

"This is starting to directly affect our health and well-being, and regrettably, there may be more severe repercussions forthcoming. Young and future generations, who have contributed minimally to this issue, will bear the most burden," she said.

Hasanova highlighted that the presidency of COP29 recognizes the importance of achieving inclusive outcomes for children and youth not only this year but also beyond COP29.

"As governments around the world prepare the next generation of national climate plans, it is crucial to engage youth voices. Our perspectives, innovations, and determination play a key role in shaping ambitious and effective climate strategies that reflect our needs, the needs of our children, and our priorities," she added.
