Georgia reveals loans issued within preferential agricultural lending program

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 6

As of November 6, some 2,893 agricultural loans were issued in Georgia within the framework of the preferential agricultural lending program, the total loan amount exceeds 57 million lari ($17.1 million), including co-financing of interest from the agency exceeds 4.7 million lari ($1.4 million), Trend reports via the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

According to the ministry, under the concessional agricultural lending program, the state fully covers the six-month interest rate to finance the current costs of growing annual crops.

As reported, up to 5,000 hectares of new gardens will be planted in Georgia.

Some 40 million lari is provided for the cultivation of intensive gardens.

According to Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili, since 2015, since the beginning of the "Plant the future" program and until today, new perennial gardens have been planted on only 10,000 hectares of land.
