Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 16
By Sara Israfilbayova – Trend:
Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR exported 1,595.1 million cubic meters of gas worth $219.09 million to Georgia in January-September 2018, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee told Trend on Nov. 16.
SOCAR exported 1,440.9 million cubic meters of gas worth $198.67 million to Georgia in January-September 2017.
Until the end of the year, 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas are planned to be supplied to Georgia via SOCAR and the Shah Deniz consortium, SOCAR told Trend earlier.
The Azerbaijani market is priority for SOCAR, so the company directs all gas produced in Azerbaijan exclusively to the local market. For the sale of gas abroad, gas volumes purchased from third parties (including abroad) are mainly used to support foreign business and generate additional revenues for Azerbaijan.
Presently, SOCAR is the main supplier of natural gas, oil and oil products to Georgia.
