The Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR has commissioned a new compressor station on the territory of the Galmaz underground gas storage facility, Trend reports on May 14 referring to SOCAR.
The commissioning of a new compressor station will increase the productivity of the Galmaz underground gas storage facility by 30 percent from 10 million cubic meters of gas to 13 million cubic meters of gas per day.
"This creates conditions for pumping additional volumes of gas and extracting them in a much bigger volume in winter, when demand for gas increases," the report says.
The commissioning of a new compressor station allows increasing gas storage volumes from one billion cubic meters to 1.5 billion cubic meters.
The station was built by SOCAR’s Oil and Gas Construction Trust. The compressor station is able to work in one-stage and two-stage mode.
The Galmaz underground gas storage facility is located 75 kilometers south-east of Baku. It was commissioned in 1955.
