Azerbaijan has great potential in creation of artificial lighting systems - Signify

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 28

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

Azerbaijan has great potential in the creation and application of artificial lighting systems, Eric Benedetti, Vice President and General Manager for Russia and CIS at Signify, told Trend on July 28.

“The development and implementation of renewable energy solutions is an important step towards eliminating the burning of fossil fuels and reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” Benedetti said.

“Our company produces Philips SunStay luminaire that works on solar batteries,” the vice-president added. “They combine a solar panel, LED lamps, and a battery. The lamps allow you to save up to 75 percent of electricity, as well as preserve the landscape of the territories – the design of the devices does not require a trench for laying cables.”

“Solar panels can last up to 30 years,” Benedetti said. “The luminaires have a preset brightness reduction profile with a passive infrared motion sensor, a self-diagnosis function, LED indicators for charging, discharging and disconnecting the battery.”

“Solar-powered solutions are optimal for places where there is a lot of sunlight because they illuminate sites that do not have a connection to the power grid,” Benedetti added.

“In Azerbaijan, the use of natural light to create artificial lighting at night is especially important, because the weather is almost always good here – about 300 sunny days per year,” the vice president said. “Therefore, we see great potential for development in this region.”

“We approach the development of each project individually, taking into account its specifics and the tasks facing the client, whether it is reducing the energy consumption of lighting on the streets of the city or creating a "smart" ecosystem in the store,” Benedetti said. “We always strive to offer the best-customized solution.”

“For example, especially for the streets of Baku, the company produced luminaires with a warm shade of white color, which emphasizes the original atmosphere of the city,” the vice president said. “We called it "Baku Champagne".”

“In the lighting of stores, we also offer custom solutions – we take into account the style of trading halls and the brand philosophy,” Benedetti said. “Properly selected lighting solutions allow you to focus the attention of customers on the product, highlight certain product categories and even increase sales.”

“The company has created a unique lighting concept especially for the Bravo supermarket chain,” the vice president said. “In particular, we installed 3D lamps made of recycled plastic there.”
