The continual delays in getting Iran's Bushehr nuclear power plant up and running are stipulated by the authorities' inattention and Russia's inability to fully complete its work on the facility, MP Ali-Reza Katouzian told Pana news.
The head of Iran's Majlis (parliament) energy commission, Mr. Katouzian criticized the government for making promise that the Bushehr plant will be fully operational by now when the plant is working to produce electricity at 50 percent of its capacity.
The energy commission repeatedly tried to get answers about the Bushehr facility's status, said Mr. Katouzian.
Officials have been invited to the Majlis to discuss the issue.
Located outside the Persian Gulf town of Bushehr, work on the nuclear plant first started in 1975. After Iran's revolution in 1979, construction stopped until 1995 when Russia signed a contract to complete the plant.
