The head of Iran's ISNA (Iranian Student's News Agency) was dismissed just a couple of hours after a meeting headed by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iran News Network, INN.ir, reported on July 18.
According to the report, Mohammad Hossein Yadegari, the head of the Iran's Scientific Information Database Organization dismissed Sasan Valizadeh and appointed his deputy Alireza Zojaji as ISNA head, just several hours after the meeting of Supreme Cultural Revolution Council, headed by Ahmadinejad.
The report says that Valizadeh was under pressure during last presidential elections, held on June 14, to support two conservative candidates through the Agency, but he refused.
Valizadeh gave an interview to Mehr News Agency on July 18, saying that his dismissal was likely linked to presidential elections.
He said that, some officials asked him to support two candidates, but he preferred to cover all candidates' campaign news, neutrally.
Dismissal of Valizadeh came while Ahmadinejad should hand over presidency after two weeks to president-elect Hassan Rouhani.
