The railroad connections of Iran with its neighbors must be built and connected via various means, including the Tabriz railroad, Ali Larijani, Iranian MP, said during a meeting on the commencement of the construction of Bostanabad - Sarab railroad, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
Acording to Larijani, the main purpose is to connect Iran in all directions by means of railroad projects.
Appropriate funds have also been allocated in the next year’s budget (starting from Machr 21, 2019) for said projects and transit directions, he noted.
Construction of the 77-kilometer long Bostanabad-Sarab railway has commenced in Iran’s East Azerbaijan Province.
The project is planned to be implemented in three phases. Phase one has been commissioned to a contractor with 450 billion rials (about $10.7 million). It is foreseen that the 15-kilometer railroad will be constructed in 48 months.
Iran intends to connect the Bostanabad-Sarab railway to the Ardabil Province, and eventually to the Caucasus via Azerbaijan.
