Military units in northeastern Libya have signalled their support for anti-government protesters, DPA reported according to Al Arabiya.
The broadcaster aired footage of the leaders of the military units in the al-Jabal al-Akhdar district vowing to support the protesters, after Libyan leader Moamer Gaddafi vowed he would not step down.
