Turkey unveils volume of goods handled through Bandirma port in 1Q2021

The volume of cargo transshipment through the Turkish Bandirma port approached 1.38 million tons from January through March 2021, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

In the specifying period, ships flying the Turkish flag handled 115,596 tons of cargo through the mentioned port, while ships flying the flags of other countries – over 1.26 million tons, the ministry said.

As the ministry stated, no cargo was handled in transit during the first quarter of this year through Bandirma port.

The Turkish ports handled 94.6 million tons of cargo from January through March 2021.

Some 7.4 million tons of cargo were transported by ships flying the Turkish flag while 87.2 million tons under the flags of other countries.

Moreover, some 18.4 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports during the reporting period.

The Turkish ports as a whole handled 32.1 million tons of cargo in March 2021.

Some 2.9 million tons of cargo were transported by ships sailing under the Turkish flag while 29.3 million tons by ships sailing under the flags of other countries in March.

According to the ministry, 5.9 million tons of cargo were transited through the Turkish ports in March.
