Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR plans to install five new platforms at the Bulla Deniz gas field in the Caspian Sea, said Khoshbakht Yusifzade, SOCAR's first vice president.
He made the remarks June 3 at the Caspian Oil & Gas 2016 conference in Baku.
"The new platform #6, intended for drilling one exploratory and three production wells, was opened at the field in May 2016," said Yusifzade. "Drilling of an exploratory well with a projected depth of 5,900 meters has already begun."
He also noted that it is planned to build and install five new platforms in 2016-2017 in accordance with the Bulla Deniz field's development project.
"It is planned to drill 26 production wells from those platforms," added Yusifzade.
The operation of the Bulla Deniz field started in 1975. Over 62 billion cubic meters of gas and 12 million tons of oil and gas condensate have been produced at the field since then.
