BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 3. Germany imported 662,300 tons of oil from Azerbaijan from January through August 2023, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, Elnur Soltanov said during the event dedicated to German Unity Day, Trend reports.
“Energy is one of the key areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany, as well as between Azerbaijan and the EU as a whole. Germany has been relying on Azerbaijan as one of the oil suppliers for many years. From January through August this year, Germany imported 662,300 tons of crude oil from Azerbaijan,” he said.
Soltanov stressed that Azerbaijan has also become a reliable supplier of natural gas to Europe via the Southern Gas Corridor.
“Germany has been a staunch supporter of the Southern Gas Corridor from the very beginning. The German company Uniper is one of the buyers of Azerbaijani gas from the Shah Deniz field,” the deputy minister added.
