Azerbaijani President Plan to Attend World Economic Forum In Davos

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Agayeva / Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev plans to participate in the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, to be held in a Swiss resort city Davos from 23 to 27 January.

The concrete date of the President's visit is being determined through diplomatic channels,' Elchin Amirbayov, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Switzerland, said in a telephone interview from Geneva.

The embassy plans to organize a meeting of the Azerbaijani leader with the Swiss President, as well as bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations of the delegations participating in the forum.

The Azerbaijani President has been also invited to the energy summit, one of the major events of held within the framework of the Davos form, the Ambassador said. The heads of world huge energy companies and heads of state of the energy supplier countries to Europe.

In accordance with traditions, since its establishment in 1971 every year the heads of world biggest companies ranging from oil and financial giants to the world new agencies gather in Davos. According to organizers, in 2008 approximately 800 representatives of great business will assemble in this Swiss city. These are heads and top-managers of companies entering the list of 1,000 more considerable partner- organizations of the World Economic Forum.
