Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 March /corr. Trend G.Jabiyav / Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) accuses opposition leaders of their failure to demonstrate a unified position.

"International community and Azeri people will not provide serious support to the opposition if there is not trust on its unity," the ADP Chairman, candidate for presidency, Sardar Jalaloglu, reported to Trend .

The presidential elections in Azerbaijan will take place in October. Despite that many opposition parties will participate in the elections, Azadlyg Bloc, which includes three opposition parties, plans to boycott the elections. The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) will put forward candidature of the current President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

According to Jalaloglu, if the opposition can not demonstrate a unified position at the level of leaders, the union may be established only as a team. Saying that from this point of view, ADP will establish a 'shadow cabinet', Jalaloglu stated that after the elections officially begin, cabinet's composition will be disclosed to the society.

"Our idea may unite the opposition as a single team. Currently it is only way out," the ADP Chairman said.

ADP was founded by Sardar Jalaloglu in1991. By January 2007 the party occupied an oppositional position against the authorities. The party took a new political course in dialogue with the authorities in January 2007. Rasul Guliyev, the former chairman of the party, and his supporters separated from the party protesting against the new political course of the party and founded their new Open Society Party.
