Azerbaijan’s Governing Party Thinks It is Region’s Mightiest Political Force
Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 June / Trend corr E. Babayev/ The governing New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) stated that it has become the mightiest political force in the region.
"Increasing number of party members is not only a statistical feature but also the choice of the people," Ali Ahmadov, Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of the NAP, said when presenting a 450-thousand-certificate to a new NAP member - student of the Azerbaijan Pedagogical University Shahana Mammadjanova.
Ahmadov said that every year 25-30,000 new members join NAP. During six months of this year, 16,000 people have joined the party. According to him, most of NAP activists are youth.
"People's support to the NAP means unilateral support to the policy of Azerbaijan's all-nation leader Heydar Aliyev," Ahmadov said.
NAP was founded in Nakhchivan in 1992. The all-nation leader, the late ex-President Heydar Aliyev was the Party's first Chairman. President Ilham Aliyev is the current chairman of the Party, which has been in power for 15 years.
