The husband of assassinated former premier Benazir Bhutto was formally nominated as a candidate for Pakistan's upcoming presidential election, a senior leader of Bhutto's Pakistan Peoples' Party announced Saturday.
"I am pleased to announce here that Asif Ali Zardari has accepted the unanimous proposal of the party to run for president's office. From now on he will be the presidential candidate of the Pakistan Peoples Party," said Senator Raza Rabbani, the dpa reported.
