Azerbaijan, Baku, 19 November / Trend corr. I.Alizade/ Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) unanimously positively estimated the returns of the presidential election that took place in Azerbaijan on 15 October.

"The Monitoring Committee positively estimated the returns of the presidential election," Samad Seyidov, PACE Vice-President, chairman of the Azerbaijani standing parliamentary commission on international and inter-parliamentary relations, said to Trend in a telephone conversation from Paris on 19 November.

Presidential elections took place in Azerbaijan on 15 October. Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), President Ilham Aliyev won the election by a landslide (88.73%).

Returns of Azerbaijan's presidential election will be discussed during the winter session of PACE in January.

Seyidov said that 11 members of the PACE Monitoring Committee delivered a report on Azerbaijan's presidential election.

"PACE rapporteurs on Azerbaijan Andres Herkel and Evgeniya Zhivkova delivered a report on the presidential election in Azerbaijan. They voiced their positions on the objectivity of the Council of Europe's election observation missions. They believe PACE observation mission carried out top level work during the presidential election in Azerbaijan. But final reports noted subjective and double standards. And PACE Monitoring Committee members voiced concern in that connection," he said.
