Istanbul to host presentation UN "Youth for Alliance of Civilizations" international movement

Istanbul will host a presentation of the UN Youth for the Alliance of Civilizations (YAOC) international movement as part of the UN second global forum on "Alliance of Civilizations" to be held on April 6-7.

It is planned to adopt the Youth strategy of the Alliance and program of the movement's action, as well as form the Youth Consulting Committee at the AC UN. The youth leaders of 75 countries will attend the event.

Turkish and Spanish premiers, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary General on the Alliance of Civilization Jorge Sampayo, as well as some presidents, members of governments, famous politicians, as well as world's famous public and cultural figures are expected to attend the forum which is the highest format in intercultural dialogue. U.S. President Barack Obama is expected to make speech at the forum on April 7, Organization for the Islamic Conference (OIC) Youth Forum secretariat reported.

In 2005, Prime Ministers of Turkey and Spain Receb Tayyib Erdogan and Jose Luis Rodrigez Zapatero initiated this project which is realized under the UN aegis. The UN Alliance of Civilization first forum took place in Madrid in January 2008.

The youth conference will be held on April 4-5 as part of the Istanbul forum. This conference will aim to complete forming the international Youth for the Alliance of civilizations movement as the UN official platform.

The movement was initiated at the conference of the same name called by Heydar Aliyev Foundation President and UNESCO and ISESCO Good Will Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva in Baku in November 2007.
