Seven opposition activists were arrested due to resistance to police during the incident on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi on May 28, a member of the NGO "Public Defender" Nana Kakabadze said.
She said seven people injured during the incident have been arrested on May 29, when they left the hospital. They are detained in the General Directorate of Internal Affairs of Tbilisi.
The detained people are Gvaramiya Luke, David Kenchadze, Levan Loluashvili, David Kapanadze, Lasha Guledani, Konstantin Guglashvili and Ramaz Jashiashvili.
On May 28, a group of policemen arrived at the Rustaveli Avenue to release the detained operator of the interior ministry, the Georgian Interior Ministry reported. A clash took place between them and the participants of opposition parties and a dozen people on both sides were injured as a result of this incident. One policeman was seriously injured with knives.
