Head of the UNDP Regional Office Kori Udovicki has ended official an visit to Georgia. During her three-day visit, she met with Prime Minister Nika Gilauri and other Georgian officials.
Within the meetings, Udovicki discussed democratic reforms and UNDP projects aimed at assisting in these reforms. She also spoke about UNDP assistance to restore the conflict zones.
"Georgia is pushing impressive reforms, and we are pleased to participate in the process. We know well what challenges Georgia faced in the past two years given the war in 2008 and the global economic crisis. We are pleased that, despite this, government institutional reforms and new economic strategies have not stopped," Udovicki said.
Udovicki also visited the Shida Kartli region to study the implementation of rehabilitation programs. Together with the corrections minister, she took part in the opening of a new bureau office providing free legal aid in Gori.
Udovicki also met representatives of civil society, businesses, international organizations, and diplomatic missions.
