BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. The Turkish Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the so-called "presidential elections" of the separatist regime in Azerbaijan's Karabakh, Trend reports citing the ministry's statement.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement that these so-called "elections" are a new manifestation of attempts to legitimize the situation in the region, which is contrary to international law:

"This step is a violation of international law, including UN Security Council resolutions and OSCE principles. We condemn these so-called "elections" and perceive it as an attempt to undermine the peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Türkiye does not recognize these so-called "elections", which represent a violation of Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We call on the UN and the international community not to recognize these "elections". Türkiye supports the process of peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia and believes that signing a peace agreement as soon as possible will make a great contribution to peace and stability in the region," the statement reads.
