No one injured at protest action in Tebriz, Iranian Amb assures

Iran newspaper first published article linked with the Azerbaijan, but after there appeared a caricature, which caused disagreement. The publication of the article and caricature was a mistake and all measures are taken against this fact within the frames of the law, the Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Afshar Suleymani, told a news conference in Baku on 24 May, Trend reports.

He underlined that Iran apologized to Azerbaijanis, while the fact was condemned at the Assembly of the Islamic Council and MPs. The Ambassador underlined Islam unites all nations and no one has right to insult another nation. He confirmed the repots on protest actions staged in Tebriz in connection with the caricature published in the Iranian newspaper. However, refuted announcements about the victims of the action. No one was injured, or shot during the action. Someone, benefiting the moment decided to excite tension, destroyed the private facilities, broke the glass and fired bank. These facts will be analyzed within the framework of the law and relevant statements will be issued on the provocateurs. They will show to participants in the actions benefiting the moment these people destroyed the facilities, diplomat underlined.

The Iranian diplomat noted only the provocateurs were arrested. According to majority of the arrested have dossiers at the law-enforcement bodies. The damage inflicted during the

action is a result of the provocation of the foreign forces. The US and other countries are among them. The United States understands that it cant defeat Iran, which sets up its actives on the base of the international law. So, they take different measures in respect to Iran. It was so earlier, Suleymani underlined.

He noted that every citizen in Iran enjoys a right for freedom of word and expression of protest and it should be done within the framework of the law. The diplomat also stressed that the Iranian flag has been recently insulted before the Iranian embassy in Baku and it also raised anxiety of Azerbaijani protesting in Iran. I have appealed to the Foreign Ministry, whilst no reply measure was taken. As a diplomat I demand the law-enforcement bodies to take measures in respect people insulting the Iranian flag, he stated.
