Azerbaijani state universities may change the payment systems for students who have scored high points in entrance examinations.
"It is high time to apply some concessions to students who scored high points in paid faculties of state universities. Universities can make the necessary changes to their statutes. These changes should be adopted in accordance with the law," the Minister of Education, Misir Mardanov, told journalists on Sept. 9.
The minister said the privately paid faculties at state universities were opened in 1994. "At that time it was necessary due to hard times. In the near future, it will be quite realistic to apply concessions to the students who enter privately paid faculties, despite scoring high points in entrance exams," said Mardanov.
