Azerbaijan, Baku, July 27 / Trend, T.Jafarov /

Several Iranian newspapers are faced with a threat of closure due to an increase in paper prices in the country, the İLNA agency reported on Friday.

In 2012, the paper price in the country increased 80 per cent, Editor-in-Chief of the Aftab Yazd newspaper Mansoor Muzaffari said.

"In addition to an increased price, paper importers and middlemen impose their own conditions on buyers," he said.

He said the cause of the problem was the elimination of subsidies on paper.

"In such circumstances, producing the Aftab Yazd newspaper is impossible. We do not want to increase pressure on the people by increasing price of the newspaper. If this situation continues, publication of the newspaper will be suspended," Muzaffari said.
