Georgian MP of Azerbaijani Origin Asks 3m. Lari to Fortify Banks of Azerbaijani-Populated Village of Gabala

A MP of the Georgian Parliament, Azerbaijani Kamal Muradkhanov has requested the Georgian Government to sent 3m.Laris to solve problems of the Azerbaijani-populated village of Gabala, Trend Special Correspondent to Tbilisi reports.

During the today's sitting of the Parliamentary Committee for Environment and Natural Resources Protection, Mr. Muradkhanov told that yesterday he visited the village himself, and became an eyewitness of the misfortune of the local population, which was brought by the flood. The MP pointed out that works to the sum of 1 m. Lari has already completed, but that is not enough to eliminate sequences of the flood there.

It is necessary to do everything properly, to fortify the banks of the river that is used to flood the villages, including the Azerbaijani village of Gabala, he said.

During the meeting of the Committee, a decision on recommending the Georgian Finance Ministry to sent the required sum to solve problems with the river of Gabala was made.

Notably, the day before, Azerbaijanis living in Gabala claimed that they are waives of the Georgian authorities. The people complain that it is for the fifth time in this year when the river floods the village, but the authorities have taken no measures needed to eliminate the sequences of the flood.

Petre Tsiskarashvilli, Governor of Kakhetia Region of Georgia, where the above-mentioned village is located, said that it is necessary to change the crease of the river to solve this problem, but it requires significant amount of means. The funds have already been sent, and we shall launch this work as soon as the water fall down, he pointed out.
