BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 2. Azerbaijan Beekeepers Association is expanding the geography of honey exports, the Chairman of the Association Badraddin Hasratov told Trend.

According to Hasratov, negotiations are underway with the US, South Korea, Japan, Arab and European countries.

“Samples of Azerbaijani honey have already been sent to the US and South Korea,” he said.

Besides, according to him, in 2021, the production of honey by the Beekeepers Association amounted to 7,000 tons, which is a record figure.

The association’s head further said that its another success was the increase in the number of bee colonies from 550,000 to 640,000.

“Moreover, the professional skills of beekeepers in the regions improved through several seminars, trainings, as well as educational web-trainings organized for them,” Hasratov noted.

The chairman of the association stressed that for the first time in the past 29 years, products from Azerbaijan’s Kalbajar and Lachin districts [liberated from Armenian occupation as a result of the 2020 Second Karabakh War] were presented at the honey fair.
