BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 16. The number of Azerbaijani citizens who visited foreign countries significantly grew from January through July 2022, Trend reports via Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee.
According to the committee, this figure amounted to 829,400 people, up by 2 times annually.
Some 47.9 percent of the above Azerbaijani citizens visited Türkiye, 16.6 percent - Russia, 12.2 percent - Iran, 8.3 percent - Georgia, and 15 percent - other countries in the first half of this year.
The number of citizens who visited Iran increased by 4.3 times over the year, Türkiye - by 2.2 times, Georgia - by 1.9 times, and Russia – by 23.2 percent.
The committee noted that 60.1 percent of Azerbaijani citizens who visited foreign countries from January through July 2022 used air transport, 37.3 percent - used rail and road, and 2.6 percent - used sea transport.
Meanwhile, according to the committee, 832,000 foreigners and stateless persons from 171 countries visited Azerbaijan.
