BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. Azerbaijan’s import value from January through August 2022 amounted to over $8.8 billion, which is an increase of 20.67 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($7.3 billion), Trend reports citing a report by the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.

According to the committee, the share of the public sector in the total import amounted to over $1.4 billion (16.21 percent of the total value). This figure increased by 106.93 percent year-on-year ($742.67 million over the same period of 2021).

The share of the private sector in Azerbaijani imports over the reporting period of 2022, having increased by 13.22 percent year-on-year ($5.8 billion in 2021), totaled $6.5 billion, which also accounts for 74.22 percent of the total import value.

A total value of $849.3 million of the total Azerbaijani import in the reporting period of 2021 fell on individuals (9.57-percent share). However, this figure slightly decreased by 0.9 percent year-on-year ($841.831 million).

In total, Azerbaijan exported 7,432 and imported 3,246 units of goods, having carried out foreign trade operations with 174 partner countries.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover from January through August 2022 grew by 73.1 percent ($14.8 billion), compared to the same period last year – from $20.2 billion to over $35.1 billion.
