BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 5. The construction of five small hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) in Azerbaijan's Kalbajar district is near completion, Trend reports citing Azerenergy OJSC.

In addition, work at Lachin district's 110 kV substations is also coming to an end.

In 2022, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of nine Azerenergy facilities, the groundbreaking ceremony of two, as well as inspected the construction of six facilities.

Thus, the commissioning of the 330/220/110/10 kV Yashma junction substation in the first month of 2022 has been of strategic interstate importance.

On February 11, President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of a 330/220/110-kilovolt Gobu substation with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts and a 385-megawatt Gobu Power Station. The inauguration of Agdam-1 and Agdam-2 substations, as well as the Digital Management Center of the Karabakh Regional Electric Network, on February 14, was also attended by President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva. On the same day, the reconstructed 110 kV Aghjabadi substation was put into operation.

On May 26, 2022, the groundbreaking ceremony of a 330-kilovolt Jabrayil energy junction was held within the Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Europe international energy project. After 4 months, the head of state got acquainted with the construction of the 330 kV Jabrayil substation.

The 4.4 MW Kalbajar-1 Small Hydroelectric Power Station was commissioned on June 26, 2022. Furthermore, the head of state viewed the construction progress at 8.33 MW Chirag-1, 3.6 MW Chirag-2, 6.33 MW Gamishli, 5.3 MW Soyugbulag, and 3.4 MW Meydan Small Hydroelectric Power Stations. President Ilham Aliyev also got acquainted with the work done at the 110 kV Gorchu power substation in the Lachin district and the 110 kV Kalbajar-Lachin double-loop transmission line.

On September 21, 2022, the head of state participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lachin Junction Substation. In December 2022, President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of Oghuz-1, Oghuz-2, and Oghuz-3 Small Hydroelectric Power Stations.

Following the order of President Ilham Aliyev dated October 25, 2022, Azerenergy is establishing an additional power plant with 1280 MW capacity in Mingachevir city. This generation source will be the largest power plant built in the period of independence.
