Türkiye shares data on volume of cargo transshipment via local ports in March

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. A total of 31.9 million tons of cargo were handled by the Turkish ports in March, the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

During the reporting period, ships flying the Turkish flag transported 2.3 million tons of cargo through the local ports.

"The cargo transshipment by the ships flying the flags of other countries equaled 29.6 million tons," said the statement.

In addition, the Turkish ports handled over 6 million tons of transit cargo in March 2023.

According to the ministry, the Turkish ports received 91.5 million tons of cargo from January through March 2023.

"From January through March 2023, the ships flying the Turkish flag carried 6.4 tons of cargo, whereas the ships flying the flags of other countries transported 85.08 million tons," said the statement.

Furthermore, the Turkish ports handled 18.3 million tons of transit cargo from January through March 2023.

In 2022, the Turkish ports transported over 394 million tons of cargo.

During the reporting period, the ships flying the Turkish flags transported 28.4 million tons, while ships flying the flags of other countries - 365.6 million tons of cargo.

In 2022, 81.01 million tons of transit cargo were handled via Turkish ports.
