BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 27. Azerbaijani pharmaceutical company Parla Pharmaceuticals plans to build three plants for the production of medicines in the country, Head of the company, Arash Nosrati said, Trend reports.
"Currently, the pharmaceutical company's products are manufactured at factories in Canada, Italy, Iran and India, as well as packaged in Azerbaijan. However, in the near future, it is planned to start the production of these medicines in Azerbaijan as well. These plants will produce antibiotics, painkillers, antifungal and anti-inflammatory medications," Nosrati said.
In addition, Nosrati said that Parla Pharmaceuticals plans to start exporting medicines under the "Made in Azerbaijan" brand from 2024.
"The company intends to export its products to such countries as Pakistan, Libya, Yemen, Peru, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Iraq, Tajikistan, and Georgia," he said.
The value of Azerbaijan's pharmaceutical exports amounted to $14.2 million from January through August 2023, which is 7.47 times more than in the same period last year.
In general, Azerbaijan imported pharmaceutical products worth $401.5 million during the reporting period.
