Turnover between Belarus and Azerbaijan are increasing despite the global economic crisis, Belarusian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Nikolay Paskevich said today.

"Growth rates on export and import operations hit 114 percent in 2009. The achieved normative and legal basis promoted this growth," the ambassador said.

The core of expanding economic relations is production cooperation, Paskevich said.

He stressed that tractor production is ongoing at a Ganja plant.

Paskevich said the first production batch will be ready in coming days.

"AZAL and Belavia plan to make four flights per week next summer from Minsk to Baku. The number of business contacts between our countries has increased and we already have two flights per week," Paskevich said.

Azerbaijani tourist services to Belarus have also increased 2.6 times over 10 months. A major task in the trade and economic sphere for 2010 is to establish joint ventures, intensify production cooperation and create long-term economic cooperation, the ambassador said.
