The reconstruction of the Kurdamir-Ujar Road should end in mid-2010, the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry reported. The length of the road under reconstruction is 42 kilometers.
"The project's contractor Todini continues operations on rehabilitation. In mid-2010, the operations will end," the source said.
According to the official, 82 percent of the funds needed for the road's rehabilitation are provided by the World Bank, with the remaining share allocated by the Azerbaijani government. The total amount of the project is $65 million.
The government has offered the WB to finance this section of the road after refusing to take part in the project of the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development.
The feasibility study of the Kurdamir-Ujar Road was prepared in 1999 at with a Kuwait Fund grant.
