President of the Turkish Leather Council Erdal Matras has visited Uzbekistan to get acquainted with the activities of Nafis Charm LLC in Namangan, engaged in the leather processing.
Matras, talking to Uzbek media, stressed that there is an opportunity to expand the range of finished products, which will increase the volume of exports by several times.
"We plan to study the development of the industry in other areas of Uzbekistan, and, based on the results, we will discuss what to invest in. The leather industry in Uzbekistan is very attractive from the point of view of investment; there is a huge potential here," he said.
Manager of Nafis Charm LLC Marina Vishnevskaya, in turn, stressed that the company was established in 2011 and over the past period it managed to raise the quality of production to a high level.
"In the first stage we processed raw materials only, but today we produce more than 10 types of leather products. The enterprise has an international ISO certificate and is expanding the geography of exports," she said.
The business circles of the two counties intensified contacts following recent visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkey.
During the visit, a joint statement of the Turkish and Uzbek leaders - which became the main document that facilitates the cooperation between the two countries - and more than 20 documents on development of mutual relations in economy, trade, industry, banking and finance, investment, tourism, transportation and logistics, healthcare, training, defense and others were signed.
