Tashkent city makes largest contribution to Uzbekistan's GDP

City of Tashkent made the largest contribution to the formation of Uzbekistan's gross domestic product (GDP) with a specific weight of 16.2 percent, the press service of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan stated in its message as a part of the preliminary assessment of the gross regional product (GRP) of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, provinces and the city of Tashkent in 1Q2018.

According to the information, Tashkent and Kashkadarya regions with 9.1 percent and 6.3 percent hold the second and the third places respectively. The lowest share of GRP in the formation of the republic's GDP is recorded in the Syrdarya (1.6 percent), Jizzakh (1.9 percent) and Khorezm (2.9 percent) regions.

In 1Q2018, the outpacing GRP growth rates were registered in the Andijan region (108.9 percent), Tashkent city (107.2 percent), Surkhandarya region (106.7 percent), Khorezm region (106.1 percent) and Tashkent region (106.1 percent).

Low GRP growth rates compared to the republican median level (105.1 percent) were observed in Jizzakh (102.8 percent), Samarkand (103.0 percent) and Navoi (103.2 percent) regions. There was a decrease of the GRP (99.6 percent of the 1Q17 figure) in the Bukhara region.

The Surkhandarya region (23.2 percent) has the largest share of the agricultural, forestry and fishery sectors, Navoi region – industry (69.1 percent), Jizzakh region – construction (11.1 percent), and Namangan region – services (66.0 percent).

The smallest share of agriculture, forestry and fishery was registered in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (3.5 percent), industry – in Surkhandarya region (12.2 percent), construction – in Tashkent region (4.0 percent), services – in Navoi region (20.2 percent).

The GDP of Uzbekistan in amounted to 64.9 trillion soums in 1Q18, which is 5.1 percent more compared to the corresponding period last year.
