The activities of 20 mines will be restored in the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province (southwestern Iran) by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020 to March 21, 2021), said Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province Salar Hosseinpour said Trend reports referring to the organization.
Hosseinpour said that there are currently 43 mines operating in the province.
Hosseinpour added that bauxite, phosphate, gypsum, gravel and celestine mining materials are extracted from the most important mines of the province.
The chairman stressed that currently, about 450 people are employed at the mines of the province. With the resumption of activities of 20 mines, there will be a significant increase in the number of people employed in the mines.
Iran's Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Provinces have 1.5 billion tons of mining reserves. The production potential of the province's mines is about 5.5 million tons per year. However, more than 2.5 million tons of mining materials are extracted from these mines.
