Iran's exports shrink

Iran's exports decreased by 20 percent in terms of value and 17.7 percent in terms of volume during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through January 20, 2021), Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Mehdi Mirashrafi said, Trend reports citing IRICA.

According to Mirashrafi, Iran exported 94.5 million tons of goods worth about $28.1 billion within 10 months.

“In 10 months, Iran exported 22.8 million tons of goods worth $7.2 billion to China and 22.3 million tons worth $6.3 billion to Iraq,” he added.

The director general emphasized that Iran also exported 12.8 million tons of goods worth $3.7 billion to the UAE, 5.7 million tons worth $2 billion to Turkey and 5.8 million tons worth $1.9 billion to Afghanistan.

Mirashrafi noted that Iran exported a total of 69.5 million tons of goods worth $21.3 billion to these five countries. This means that the countries accounted for 76 percent of Iran's total exports in terms of value and 73.5 percent in terms of volume.

The director general said that Iran's foreign trade turnover amounted to about 123 million tons worth $58.7 billion in the 10 months.
