Iran registers thousands of knowledge-based companies

Iranian Minister of Science announced the existence of 6,000 active knowledge-based companies in the country, out of which 1,800 are under the serious support of science and technology parks.

“Very effective measures in the field of science and technology parks have been done in last 20 years, with the aim of utilizing scientific capacities to advance the country's economic goals,” Mansour Gholami, Iranian Science and Technology Minister said, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

Noting that the establishment of research and technology funds is another Ministry's Plan, Gholami said that these funds have been established with the aim of supporting knowledge-based companies.”

Gholami stated that 195 technology growth centers have been built and activated in the country's universities.

He said that Iran is among the top 15 countries of the world in terms of qualitative and quantitative academic research.
