Iran seeks to establish joint banking network with Syria

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec.3

Trend:

Iran is seeking to establish a joint banking network with Syria to facilitate the trade and money transactions between the two countries, said the head of Iran Trade Promotion Organization Alireza Peyman-Pak, Trend reports citing ILNA.

Iran's Ministry of Industries, Mine and Trade has discussed the issue of solving banking problems with Syrian officials and establishing a joint bank to manage foreign currency resources, said Peyman-Pak.

Expanding trade between the two countries would include plans to export goods from Iran to Syria via land and sea and establish regular routes, stable shipping lines, and road safety.

Iran seeks free trade with Syria and the elimination of customs tariffs. The two sides have held talks with Syrian officials about insurance, banking services, and bartering.
